A passport for every recycled batch.
MateriAI turns plant energy, throughput, and CO₂e data into a Digital Product Passport per batch — blockchain-anchored so your buyer can verify recycled-content claims without taking your word for it. Built for plastics. PPWR-ready.
A Digital Product Passport for every batch you reprocess.
MateriAI links plant-floor data — mass, throughput, energy drawn, CO₂e emitted — to the material batches moving through it, and anchors the record on public blockchain. One tamper-evident passport per batch, ready for your buyer, your auditor, and the regulator.
The platform is live for plastics recyclers today. In-line NIR verification at sort-line speed is in build with Innovate UK funding, targeting 2026.

Recycled-content claims, backed by the energy cost of making them.
Every batch gets a tamper-evident record: composition, recycled-content share, kilowatt-hours consumed per tonne, CO₂e emitted per tonne, and a blockchain anchor your buyer can verify independently. No trust required.
The audit trail shows how every number was derived — operator declaration, plant meter, grid carbon factor, buyer countersignature — so the passport stands up to an EuCertPlast audit, an ISCC Plus review, or a PPWR regulator walking your line.
Platform
Measure. Passport. Verify.
Three pillars. The first two are live for plastics today. The third — in-line NIR verification at sort-line speed — is in build with Innovate UK funding.
Measure
Energy meters, throughput counters, and reprocessing-line telemetry. Per-batch kWh and CO₂e, logged at source — no spreadsheet reconstruction, no operator guesswork.
Passport
Each batch receives a Digital Product Passport with composition claims, recycled-content share, and the carbon cost of reprocessing. PPWR- and ESPR-mapped.
Verify
Anchored on public blockchain. Your buyer can independently verify the passport without calling us, and without trusting us. Tamper-evident, audit-ready.
Batch genealogy
Every bag QR-coded. Every blend traceable to source. Materials → pieces → batches → bags, with recipe provenance and % composition intact.
ERP & SCADA integrations
Plant energy + production data pushed straight into MateriAI. Tariff-aware cost calculations, Excel/API export, and operator dashboards out of the box.
In-line NIR verification
Spectroscopic composition verification at sort-line speed — including black plastics and multi-layer streams where conventional NIR fails. In build with Innovate UK funding, targeting end of 2026.
Numbers beat adjectives.
The outcomes MateriAI is designed to deliver when it replaces clipboards and spreadsheets — illustrative ranges for a mid-sized facility, modelled from industry benchmarks. We're validating them at our live Plaswire deployment and will publish measured results as they land.
The platform ships today. The sensors come next.
We only claim what’s in field or funded with a date. Everything below is one of those.
Benefits
Verified recycling data that creates market value
PPWR Compliance Ready
Meet EU packaging regulations with verified, audit-ready documentation. Automated report generation to support regulatory inspections and certification schemes.
Premium Pricing Power
Certified material with verified composition commands higher market prices. Prove recycled content percentages to brand owners and packaging manufacturers.
Reduced Contamination
Catch contaminants before they ruin batches. Real-time detection of incompatible polymers and foreign materials saves reprocessing costs.
Trusted by Auditors
Verifiable data with tamper-proof timestamps and chain of custody records. Meet the evidence requirements for EuCertPlast and ISCC Plus certification.
Questions we get from recyclers, auditors, and regulators.
What is MateriAI?
MateriAI is a Digital Product Passport (DPP) platform for plastics recyclers. It links plant-floor data — mass, throughput, energy drawn, CO₂e emitted — to the material batches moving through the site, and anchors a tamper-evident record on public blockchain. One passport per batch, ready for buyers, auditors, and regulators.
Is MateriAI live today?
Yes. The DPP platform, blockchain verification, and plant-level energy and CO₂e accounting are live and running in production at our first customer, Plaswire, a plastic recycling facility in Northern Ireland.
When will in-line NIR verification be available?
In-line near-infrared (NIR) verification at sort-line speed is in build, funded by Innovate UK, with target availability at the end of 2026. Everything else on the MateriAI platform — passport generation, energy and CO₂e measurement, blockchain anchoring, batch genealogy, ERP and SCADA integrations — is available now.
How does MateriAI support EU PPWR compliance?
MateriAI generates Digital Product Passports mapped to the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) data model, with native JSON-LD output, GS1 EPCIS 2.0 event capture, and ISO 14040 life-cycle assessment. Buyers and auditors can verify recycled-content claims independently via the blockchain anchor — no trust required.
What does a MateriAI pilot involve?
A 90-minute pilot-scoping call. Bring a sample of your worst feedstock and a recent audit. You leave with a signed MateriAI test record from your sample, a 6-week deployment plan with a sensor bill of materials, a PPWR readiness score for your line, and a named point of contact.
What technology does MateriAI run on?
A cloud platform (AWS serverless: SAM, Lambda, DynamoDB, IoT Core), a tablet-first operator app, and a LoRaWAN IoT sensor network for plant energy and throughput. Integrates with ERP and SCADA systems already in place at the plant. Data model is GS1 EPCIS 2.0 and EU DPP schema-ready.
Which sectors does MateriAI serve today and next?
Plastics recycling is live. Textiles (aligned with EU ESPR / Digital Product Passport) is in development as the next vertical. Batteries (EU Battery Regulation DPP, Feb 2027) is on the roadmap with partners. Metals are a secondary roadmap target.
